Consultation closes today

Today is the last chance to have your say on low-car living in Whitehill & Bordon.

If you are yet to provide us with your thoughts, then click here to go to the consultation homepage.

The digital consultation has proved to be a great form of engagement with Whitehill & Bordon residents, with over 300 contributions in the six-week period.

We are now able to commence reading all your responses in detail and crunching the data to form some useful analysis. The outcomes of the consultation will inform the Council’s emerging Local Plan, to help determine the best parking strategy for future development in Whitehill & Bordon. We are aiming to publish a full analysis of the consultation outcomes towards the end of this year.

Your responses, particularly to the travel survey, will highlight where additional public transport services as well as walking and cycling linkages need to be enhanced to enable a low-car lifestyle in the local area.

Look out for further updates from us about what future planning policies could be doing to address the climate emergency in November, as part of a consultation on the Local Plan.

Thank you again to all that have participated!

To date the Whitehill & Bordon low-car design consultation has received over 500 responses, which is fantastic! Thank you to all that have spent time sharing their feedback with the Council so far.

In the Whitehill & Bordon travel survey, we’ve been asking residents how they currently feel about other modes of transport available in the area. The pie charts show what respondents have said about bus services and separately about local walking and cycling paths.

Approximately 70% of respondents have indicated that they feel very unhappy with the current public bus provision in Whitehill & Bordon. By contrast, 40 residents have said they feel “happy” about the current provision of walking and cycling paths in Whitehill & Bordon. Do you agree with these respondents? If you haven’t had your say, there’s still time to complete the travel survey.

All responses received to the consultation will be analysed and the data crunched to understand the key trends and perceptions in Whitehill & Bordon, regarding low-car living. The findings of the consultation will enable the Council to undertake further detailed evidence to support the district’s emerging Local Plan and supporting policies.

Make sure you have your say on all elements of the Whitehill & Bordon low-car consultation by Tuesday 30 August.

Tell us how you travel...

Thank you to all those that have taken the time so far to respond to the East Hampshire District Council consultation on Whitehill & Bordon Low-Car Design. It is clear from the response to date that a suitable alternative transport network is required if car use is to reduce. As a result, we are now keen to understand how you and your families are getting around Whitehill & Bordon.

This survey is your chance to share with us your travel habits and preferences, which will help us develop travel plans and support initiatives as part of the emerging Local Plan that will be suitable and beneficial to all local residents.

Our goal is to develop Whitehill & Bordon in a way that will provide practical measures for sustainable travel, reduce carbon emissions and minimise the environmental impact of traffic. We know that everyone is different in the way they move around places. Therefore, we want to understand how people travel for different purposes and what could be done to increase walking, cycling and the use of public transport in Whitehill & Bordon.

The travel survey will run until the end of the consultation, 31st August 2022, and is completely anonymous and confidential. It should take no more than 5 minutes of your time to complete.

Whitehill & Bordon Low-Car Design Consultation is Live!

The digital consultation on low-car design of residential development in Whitehill & Bordon launched on Monday 18th July. East Hampshire District Council is seeking the views of local residents on housing designs that could support low-car lifestyles in Whitehill & Bordon.

In just the first four days of the consultation being live we have received over 90 responses and more than 500 residents have viewed the website! Thank you to all those who have already taken the time to provide feedback on the residential designs and offer us your opinions.

If you haven’t yet had chance to look at the designs, then please have a look here and let the Council know your thoughts.

The responses already received show great thought and opinions, with key themes occurring.

Keep a look out for the next phase of our consultation launching at the beginning of August!

We are aware that a common mention in the responses to date is that a suitable alternative transport network is required if car use is to reduce.

Consequently, the consultation will launch a second survey to sit alongside the low-car designs, but this will be focused on residents telling the Council how they currently travel in Whitehill & Bordon, as well as to provide feedback about what further transport improvements could occur to help reduce the amount of travel by car.

Make sure you are signed up to receive updates about this next phase of the consultation. If you have already provided a contribution to the low-car design questions don’t worry, you can re-visit the website and respond to the travel survey once it is live.
